Elle Collins

Based in the Midlands, British artist Elle Collins develops her distinctive textile wall art through a sustained engagement with natural form, texture and material presence. Originally trained in Three‑Dimensional Design and Silversmithing, she has since focused on large‑scale woven compositions that draw on the irregular rhythms of rugged coastal landscapes and overgrown woodlands explored during family travels. 

Collins approaches weaving as a sculptural practice. Working with sustainably sourced natural fibres — notably organic Egyptian cotton — she combines traditional hand weaving with her own signature knotting technique. Each piece is woven directly into a handmade solid oak frame she prepares herself, allowing a fluid interplay between structure and surface. 

Her compositions register an attentiveness to pattern and atmosphere observed in nature. Forms suggest movement — the layered contours of rock and water, the textured sweep of wind‑blown foliage — without resorting to literal depiction. Through careful modulation of tone and knot density, surfaces hold a quiet balance between tactile presence and visual calm. 

Collins’s work is calibrated through a slow, meticulous process that privileges material integrity and contemplative engagement. The woven surfaces invite close attention, revealing subtle shifts in depth and rhythm, and reflect her intention that the art evoke a sense of tranquillity and connection to place. 

Working with sensitivity to both craft and environment, Collins creates pieces that occupy space with restraint and poise. Her textile sculptures are intended as both visual and tactile environments — art that resonates through texture and invites thoughtful viewing.
